2022 marks the tenth anniversary of the Rock the South music festival, the event that famously made something beautiful out of a horrid situation. It was initially intended to be a one-time event celebrating a year of recovery from the 2011 Super Outbreak, a series of tornadoes that devastated Southern states like Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Instead, it became an annual tribute that’s helped to raise nearly a million dollars. This money has helped repair damages caused by natural disasters while bringing music fans together each year to celebrate love, resilience, and the most epic country songs.
Alabama, the band, can’t wait to show up for their home state that’s influenced their half-century career. They may have been performing longer than their co-headliner, the 29-year-old Tennessean Morgan Wallen, has been alive… but both artists will do Rock the South the right way. This means heel-kicking, fist-pumping, and just the right amount of honky tonk to appeal to all generations of country fans.
