Rick Springfield 2022 Tour Announcement – Working Class Dog 40th Anniversary Tour Schedule
Rick Springfield is performing in a city near you, celebrating the 40th anniversary of his hit album Working Class Dog. Joined by Men at Work and John Waite, the 18-city trek begins on August 5th in Saint Augustine, FL, and ends on September 3rd in Las Vegas, NV.
“I’m looking forward to making some loud noises,” Men at Work vocalist Colin Hay told Ultimate Guitar about the tour. “You know, coming out on stage and seeing big crowds and seeing the other bands is always really good. I’m not thinking, “Oh, I’ve got to do the whole night myself.” It’s really good. In the same interview, Springfield agreed with the “loud” sentiment, which is to be expected from the group of legendary pop-rockers. The longtime friends will be having a lot of fun on stage together, and we may even see a duet or two!
Springfield has had an incredible career that’s lasted half a century, but Working Class Dog is arguably one of his most significant career milestones. It sold three million copies, a grand achievement for 1981, and earned the Aussie singer a Grammy Award for “Best Rock Vocal Performance.” And of course, we can’t forget that it produced Springfield’s most famous song, the multiplatinum hit “Jessie’s Girl.” This track will likely draw the most applause from the crowd, along with other singles from the album like “I’ve Done Everything For You” and “Love is Alright Tonite.”
We’re all about celebrating 40 years of the ultra-catchy hit that made Springfield a household name, but it’s also a tribute to his entire career. Now 72, he’s continued to release albums that are loved by fans old and new every few years. His most recent release, The Red Locusts, came out just last year… but he’s already hinted that he has some new Rick Springfield songs in the works!
