My Chemical Romance 2022 Reunion Tour Schedule & Announcement
My Chemical Romance is finally embarking on their reunion tour in 2022, and it’s been a long time coming! Performances begin on August 29, 2022, in Philadelphia, PA, and continue for a little over a month before wrapping up with a four-night event in Los Angeles in October.
Despite officially breaking up in 2013, My Chemical Romance has left a legacy for rock enthusiasts and retired emo kids worldwide. That’s why fans rejoiced when the group announced their reunion in late 2019, playing one show at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles that December before announcing a full tour in January 2020.
The band lived up to their reputation for theatricality, announcing the tour with a 13-minute video that pays homage to all four of their studio albums, each categorized by a unique era and theme. When Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge meets The Black Parade and Danger Days, that’s when you know you’ve been transported back to the prime era of 2000’s alternative rock.
Of course, their plans for a 2020 My Chemical Romance tour fell through as the pandemic put a halt to live music. MCR initially rescheduled the tour for 2021 before announcing that they would postpone until fall 2022 to guarantee the safety of guests.
While millennials everywhere were disappointed to put away the black eyeliner and wait nearly two years to see their favorite band again… they knew that this 2022 reunion would be worth it. It’s nearly a decade in the making; after all… and My Chemical Romance has a special connection with their fans that’s rarely emulated by other musicians.
My Chemical Romance songs like “I’m Not Okay,” “Helena,” “Famous Last Words,” and more served as an anthem for misunderstood kids all through the 2000’s – telling stories of heartbreak and resilience while reminding people that they are never alone. Or in the case of “Welcome to the Black Parade,” that they would carry on. The band helped define the emo genre and served as inspiration for countless other artists, making their breakup in 2013 so heartbreaking.
However, fans held out hope that the band would reunite. They were correct, and not even a global pandemic can stop My Chemical Romance fans from screaming along with the lyrics to “Teenagers” in the arena once again.
