Mitski 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Mitski has added more concert dates in summer 2022, supporting her sixth album Laurel Hell. The Japanese singer will begin US dates on July 14th in Minneapolis, MN, and visit cities like Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, and Philadephia, PA, before concluding on August 18th in Los Angeles, CA.
She may have just wrapped up her last Mitski tour last month, but it’s clear that the 31-year-old singer isn’t finished celebrating Laurel Hell. And we aren’t either. Released in February 2022, the album marked a new era for the indie-pop star that The Guardian calls “the best young songwriter” in the US. Singles like “Working for the Knife” and “The Only Heartbreaker” put Mitski’s incredible voice in full force as it builds upon electro-rock riffs and heartfelt lyrics. She puts so much prowess into her tracks, that it’s easy to forget that it wasn’t long ago she wanted to quit music indefinitely.
Mitski’s 2018 album, Be the Cowboy, launched her into indie stardom. It was named the album of the year by top publications like Pitchfork and Vulture, along with being Mitski’s first album to chart on the Billboard 200. The album was highly successful, which is why people were shocked when Mitski announced her plans to quit music indefinitely at a fall 2019 concert.
She blamed the pressure of her overnight success and made it clear that her music career was very much up in the air, before eventually changing her mind and returning to the studio. The result? Laurel Hell, a showstopper of an album that incorporates more synth-pop and electronic elements into her artistry, which has been primarily indie and art-rock until this point. Between the album release, opening for Harry Styles, and embarking on a second set of shows in summer 2022… it’s been a big year for Mitski. But have no fear, as she’s just getting started.
