Mastodon and Gojira 2023 Tour Announcement – The Mega Monsters Tour Schedule

Mastodon and Gojira have announced a co-headlining trek for spring 2023, dubbed “The Mega-Monsters tour!”  Joined by Lorna Shore, the two heavy metal bands will begin the first leg on April 18th in Portland, OR, and continue through May 11th in Reading, PA. The second leg will kick off on August 9th in Cincinnati, OH, stopping in 18 cities before concluding on September 2nd in Denver, CO.

When you bring together two of the most prominent heavy metal bands of all time, you know you’re in for an intense night in the best way. Mastodon and Gojira both have over two decades’ worth of hits to rock your faces off, plus their latest records that you’ve waited almost two years to hear live. Hushed and Grim, the eighth album by Mastodon, was released in October 2021 and featured new singles like “Pushing the Tides” and “Teardrinker,” while Gojira’s Fortitude came out several months earlier with bangers like “Another World” and “Amazonia.” 

It shows that whether you’re from the Southern US (like Mastodon) or a small town in France (in Gojira’s case), the heavy metal genre is an international treasure that anybody can enjoy. And you’ll get a taste of both worlds on the Mega-Monsters tour! Plus, a little New Jersey realness from Lorna Shore, of course. All the groups involved on this tour have a legacy that dates back many years and heavy metal singles, a great deal of which you’ll hear each night as the crowd thrashes about!

AllMusic calls Mastodon “one of the preeminent metal acts of the early 21st century,” in addition to being “the most ambitious, most fearless, most fun heavy metal band to have breached the mainstream since the genre oozed its way out of The Midlands in the 1970s.” It’s quite the compliment but very well-deserved! They’ve owned the genre ever since their 2002 debut, Remission, releasing one heavy metal hit after another and inspiring all kinds of acts. The same could be said for Gojira, who has become one of the biggest French musical acts in the world and influenced bands like Jinjer, Avatar, Fit For An Autopsy, and more.
