Mastodon 2026 Tour Announcement – The Poisonous Weapons Tour Schedule
Mastodon are taking things up a notch with “The Poisonous Weapons Tour,” a 2026 North American run with Deafheaven and Alcest. The trek kicks off September 16 in Orlando, FL, before making its way through Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn, Washington, DC, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Oakland, Los Angeles, Denver, Cleveland, Atlanta and more. They’ll also appear at Louder Than Life in Louisville and Sick New World Dallas along the way.
Five years after their last record, 2021’s Hushed and Grim, fans of the Atlanta metal veterans have been itching for new music. Now, they’ve finally obliged. They just released “Your Ghost Again,” their first new single since the death of former guitarist and vocalist Brent Hinds, and it sets a heavy emotional tone for this new chapter. Mastodon are known for going big, hence their band name, and this new single is no exception.
“We wanted to pick a song that sounds like Mastodon, and that has all the things in there, because it’s the first impression of what people are gonna hear,” guitarist/vocalist Bill Kelliher says about the new single. “It speaks about things that have just happened and people passing, I could go deep but I don’t want to because a lot of that sh**’s personal.” The song is heavy in a dual way — featuring Mastodon’s hard-hitting riffs alongside lyrics about grief, memory, and confusion.
“The bridge lyrics are two lines of pure gratitude towards Brent,” adds Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders. “It’s ‘all the gifts from you, now you can take them back where you must go,’ meaning you came into my life, you exposed me to things that blew my mind, together we conquered thousands of stages around the world, had magical moments that we can never repeat again, but all the beauty that you brought it still remains, always will.”
That emotional weight gives “The Poisonous Weapons Tour” a different kind of urgency. This goes beyond your average fall metal run with a stacked lineup, though yes, it is absolutely that too. It’s Mastodon moving forward after one of the most difficult periods in the band’s history, bringing new music to the stage while still carrying the full force of a catalog that has made them one of modern metal’s most respected names.
Let’s talk about their legacy. They’ve earned multiple Grammy nominations and won Best Metal Performance for “Sultan’s Curse,” landed several Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, and turned records like Leviathan, Blood Mountain, Crack the Skye and Emperor of Sand into essential listens for anyone trying to understand 21st-century metal. Gojira and The Ocean have named Mastodon as influences, while they’ve toured alongside other big names like Metallica, Iron Maiden and more.
While we’re still waiting on a new Mastodon album, hits like “Blood and Thunder,” “The Motherload,” and “Steambreather” are more than enough to make up the setlist. Get your sign of the horns ready, because Mastodon is coming your way! Verified resale tickets are available now.
