Kacey Musgraves has just begun her Star-Crossed: Unveiled tour with King Princess, supporting her fifth album released last year. The country singer will visit 13 major cities on this trek before wrapping up on February 25th in Toronto, ON.
The opening night of this Kacey Musgraves tour occurred on January 19th in St. Paul, MN, where she greeted thousands of adoring fans with dreamy vocals and a bit of drama. She began the concert with the title track from her new album, Star-Crossed, while singing amongst a stage design of a broken heart engulfed in flames. It’s not exactly subtle, an ode to the messy divorce and pandemic woes she’s experienced over the past two years.
That being said, she also made it clear how thrilled she was to be on stage again. The witty banter between songs and beautiful country verses far overpowered the sadness of these breakup songs, creating a serene environment that’s unlike any other Kacey Musgraves tour. The journey has just begun, and there’s still plenty of time to see the 33-year-old Texas native perform her new tracks.
These include singles like “Justified” and “Camera Roll,” which take on a more pop and folk sound than you’ve come to expect from the country hitmaker. She’s described the record as a “modern tragedy,” complete with heartfelt ballads and intimate storytelling that’s instantly relatable.
