Journey 2022 Tour Announcement – Freedom Tour Schedule
Journey has announced their Freedom tour set for 2022, with special guests Billy Idol and Toto on select dates! You can see the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers beginning February 22nd in Pittsburgh, PA, continuing for 40 dates before wrapping up on May 11th in Hartford, CT.
“It’s that time – time to get back to where we are used to being – on stage!” guitarist Neal Schon said in a statement. “We are looking forward to shifting into high gear and bringing you the best show possible. The band is running on all 12 cylinders, and very excited! Please come and join us once again for an evening full of rocking stage connection fun. See you soon, friends.”
Journey has played a handful of shows since live music returned in summer 2021, including an end-of-year Las Vegas residency and a headline-making spot at Lollapalooza over the summer. Were they the oldest band at the Chicago festival? Yes. Did they also draw in people of all ages and create a bonding moment for multiple generations of music fans? Absolutely. It’s difficult not to sing along when “Don’t Stop Believin’” starts playing, and the pop-rock melodies accompanied by Schon’s world-famous guitar solos made for one of the most memorable sets of the night.
The diamond-selling band is now ready to head out on their own with the Freedom tour. Journey has released 14 studio albums and countless hit songs since forming in the early 1970s, but you may know them for a few tracks in particular.
“Don’t Stop Believin’” likely rings a bell from the countless times you’ve heard it at high school graduations, cover band concerts and Glee episodes. And then there’s “Any Way You Want It,” “Wheel in the Sky,” “Faithfully,” and “Open Arms,” which will have the audience swaying along and raising their cell phones as lighters throughout the show.
Can we also expect to hear some new Journey songs? It’s unclear, although frontman Arnel Pineda did confirm that the group was currently working on a new record. Their fifteenth record will be their first in a decade, and while no release date has been announced… we’re holding out hope.
