John Mayer 2023 Tour Announcement – Acoustic Tour Schedule
John Mayer has announced his first-ever solo acoustic tour for spring 2023, taking the world-famous musician to 19 cities. Joined by Lizzy McAlpine and Alec Benjamin, he’ll begin on March 11th in Newark, NJ, making stops in Detroit, MI, Phoenix, AZ, Seattle, WA, and more before concluding on April 14th in Los Angeles, CA.
“I began my career on stage with only a guitar and a microphone,” Mayer said in a statement. “A lot has changed since then, but I knew one day I’d feel it in my heart to do an entire run of shows on my own again, just like those early days.” “It took a couple of decades, but I feel it now,” he continued, “I’ll be playing old songs. Newer songs. Songs you haven’t heard yet that I’ll be road testing – all on acoustic, electric, and piano.”
It’s true that Mayer is often accompanied by others onstage, whether it’s his own backing band or Bob Weir and co. as they perform together as part of Dead and Company (the final tour is happening soon!) But this time, he’s ready to venture out on his own and remind everybody why he’s one of the best acoustic performers of our generation. Remember his early hits like “Gravity,” “Daughters,” and “Your Body is a Wonderland?” They’ll all be on the setlist on this John Mayer tour, showing his journey from up-and-coming acoustic singer to certified rock star and back again.
His most recent album, 2021’s Sob Rock, was a fun listen full of 1980s soft rock vibes, but Mayer will always have a place in his heart for acoustic hits. They’re what helped him rise to fame in the early 2000s, eventually becoming a seven-time Grammy winner and blues legend playing onstage alongside his idols. This includes the former members of the Grateful Dead, who happily pursued their very successful side project with Mayer. With Dead and Company tours ending and Mayer now in his mid-40s, he’s ready to take a walk down memory lane with his greatest acoustic hits from years past, and he can’t wait to see you at the show!
