John Mayer 2022 Tour Announcement – Sob Rock Tour Schedule

John Mayer has announced a 2022 tour in support of his eighth studio album, Sob Rock. Performances will begin on February 17th in Albany, NY, and feature 24 dates before ending on April 28th in Chicago, IL.

“No one is more aware of what people think about John Mayer than John Mayer himself,” Rolling Stone wrote in their album review. “The title of his eighth studio album acknowledges past accusations of sad-boy mopery. The muted pastels of the throwback cover art, complete with a simulation of the “Nice Price” sticker that Columbia Records used to slap on its bargain LPs, dares you to call him a purveyor of slick, dated studio-rock.”

This declaration about Mayer is, in a way, true. He’s accepted that everybody has an opinion of him – whether it’s the mopey bad-boy reputation that he earned in the 2000s or his status as a pioneer in the soft rock genre that doesn’t top the charts nearly as often as it used to. 

That being said, the 2021 version of John Mayer is unlike any you’ve seen before… and that is what he’s trying to prove with Sob Rock. 

John Mayer will be touring with Dead & Company in fall 2021 before heading out on his solo tour the following year, proving that his bluesy-rock aesthetic is still very much alive. Sob Rock even incorporates a bit of country, displaying Mayer’s talent as a vocalist and guitarist far outweigh his media reputation.
