Insomnium and Enslaved 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Insomnium and Enslaved are embarking on a co-headlining tour in 2023, taking the death metal giants to over a dozen US cities! They’ll kick off on April 5th in New York, NY, and continue through the 30th in Baltimore, MD.
“Neither you nor we will BELIEVE how much we are looking forward to coming back to the US of A and Canada in April 2023!,” says Enslaved frontman Ivar Bjørnson. “We have a new album (and more if you want to be technical), ‘Heimdal’, to show you – spoiler alert: it will lay venues waste. Yes, we are that confident.” “We also have some rather cosmically awesome bands joining the trek in co-headliners Insomnium and support Black Anvil – how could this become anything but the most spectacular event of 2023?”
Indeed, the sixteenth Enslaved record, Heimdal, is set for release in 2023…a solid black metal album based around the Viking culture of their home of Norway. If you’ve been a fan since the 1990s, you already know what we’re talking about! They “lay venues waste” every time they go on tour with heavy tracks like “What Else is There?”, “Storm Son,” and “The Watcher,” and we can’t even wait to hear what they have in store on Heimdal. If the latest single, “Congelia,” is any indication, it’s going to be one hell of an Enslaved tour!
As for their co-headliners, Insomnium? They also have brand-new music to debut next year! Their ninth record, and first in over three years, called Anno 1696, is coming out in April 2023. The Finnish metal band has already released the first single, “Lilian,” which every band member agrees is reminiscent of old-school, late 90s Insomnium. Guitarist Markus Vanhala calls it an “easy starter as a single — before the heavier main course comes in. It shows the lighter shade of the album, before all hope leaves.” Meanwhile, second guitarist Ville Friman says that it “has this old INSOMNIUM vibe and tonality that I tend to steer towards every time I pick up the guitar.” We love it!
Insomnium and Enslaved are two of the biggest black metal bands to emerge out of Europe, if not the world! They’ve both been slaying for decades, so why not get your tickets to witness it up close? Check below to see if one of the best metal tours of 2023 is coming to your city!
