Hippo Campus 2023 Tour Announcement – LP3 Tour Schedule
The latest leg of the Hippo Campus tour is coming your way, beginning in spring 2023! The indie rock band will kick off on May 2nd in Morrison, CO, at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, making stops in Austin, TX, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA, and more before finishing on June 3rd in New York, NY.
Hippo Campus continues to support its third album, LP3, released in early 2022. As the band’s first album in four years, they had a lot of ground to cover… but the reviews speak for themselves. Everybody is obsessed with new songs like “Bang Bang,” “Scorpio,” and “2 Young 2 Die,” which feature the Minnesota group’s signature indie rock verses even more maturity and mainstream potential. Hippo Campus will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2023, after all, and all five members are ready to put their growth on full display on the LP3 tour.
Don’t get us wrong; they’ve accomplished a great deal long before their latest record graced our Spotify playlists. Since their 2017 debut, Landmark, they’ve been named as one of NPR’s favorite new artists and have played at major music festivals like South by Southwest, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Summerfest, and more! Of course, Jake Luppen and his bandmates have grown up a lot over the past few years — releasing the 2021 EP called Good Dog, Bad Dream as a palette cleanser for Hippo Campus fans while embarking on their own solo projects. And then there was the global pandemic and subsequent quarantine, which stopped any Hippo Campus tours but did result in one of their most masterful pieces of work to date.
“Where their earlier work felt more earnest and innocent, there’s a sharper streak of contemplation on LP3,” wrote Clash Music in a positive review, “the earnestness remains, certainly, but it’s improved with a well-worn sense of lived-in experience.” Meanwhile, Gigwise gave the album nine out of ten stars while calling LP3 “a record bursting with tender glee and intricate self-reflection.” That just about sums up this introspective record by Hippo Campus, which they can’t wait to share with you on the road.
