GWAR 2022 Tour Announcement – The Black Death Rager Tour Schedule
GWAR has announced new dates for the Black Death Rager world tour, and it’s going to be as metal as it sounds. You can see the costumed mythology-meets-metal icons beginning May 19th in Fort Wayne, IN, with shows continuing through June 17th in Reading, PA.
“This is not a tour announcement,” GWAR wrote on Twitter. “This is a hit list of sh*tty towns GWAR will obliterate on our campaign of bloody carnage and sonic mastery. Get tickets on Friday if you know what’s good for you.” In the accompanying video, the band claims to be throwing yet another “end of the world bash,” delivering “death, disease, and heavy metal right to your doorstep.” Aggressive? Yes. Expected? Definitely.
If you know GWAR, you know that they can party like it’s the end of the world. Specifically, a world very much unlike our own. They’ve donned their elaborately grotesque costumes since 1984, long before Slipknot or Orville Peck, which transform them into “barbaric interplanetary warriors” from science-fiction-themed mythology. This concept is also present in their fifteen studio albums and shocking live shows, which have drawn as much captivation as controversy.
Yes, there’s a big chance that you’ll be sprayed with copious amounts of fake blood. However, a GWAR tour is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for any metal fan. They’ll play nearly four-decades worth of hits from their rapidly-revolving cast of band members and maybe even some new hits from their 2022 album The New Dark Ages. It’s an ironic title for the first post-pandemic GWAR tour, for sure, but you get to be a part of the Black Death Rager. And it’s going to be a night of metal and madness.
