Gov’t Mule 2023 Tour Announcement – The Dark Side of the Mule Tour Schedule
Gov’t Mule is hitting the road again, and it’s a blue-tiful time to see the Southern rock band! They’re embarking on a spring trek that transitions into their summer 2023 “The Dark Side of the Mule tour,” celebrating the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon album. It’s exciting, right? Warren Haynes and co. will kick off on May 5th in New Orleans, LA, continuing through August 19th in Holmdel, NJ.
The Atlanta, GA-based group initially announced a brief spring trek, supporting their twelfth and latest album, 2021’s Heavy Load Blues. That’s all well and good with us, but longtime fans of Gov’t Mule knew that they were cooking up something else, too! They have a long history with The Dark Side of the Moon and the Gov’t Mule spin they put on the name. You know, ranging from a 2014 live album and dozens of front-to-back live covers to a sweet relationship with Pink Floyd’s remaining members.
Gov’t Mule does Roger Waters and his bandmates proud every time they perform The Dark Side of the Moon at a show, which has been going on for nearly 15 years now. Remember when they originally performed the album at a 2008 Halloween show, which was recorded and later released as a live album? Continuing to play covers of “Money,” “Any Color You Like,” and “The Great Gig in the Sky” on and off throughout the years, the fans couldn’t get enough! Apparently, neither could Warren Haynes and co., as they’ve resumed intertwining their already-impressive legacy with the likes of Pink Floyd.
“This all started so organically with what we thought would be a one-time Halloween performance,” said frontman Warren Haynes. “Since then, Dark Side of the Mule has grown into something else. It’s a blast to perform this material, but our intent is to do it for one final tour in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Dark Side. Don’t miss it!” Gov’t Mule puts a Southern rock spin on one of the greatest rock albums of all time, combining them with their own bluesy essentials for an incredible night!
You’ll have a blast singing along to both covers and original songs on this Gov’t Mule tour, and as Haynes said… it’s a trek you don’t want to miss. Get your Gov’t Mule tickets today!
