Elton John’s six-decade musical career is far from over, but sadly… his time as a touring artist is. The aptly named, Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour will be the English singer’s last time gracing North American and European stages for fans to enjoy, and you don’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. North American dates begin on July 15, 2022 in Philadelphia, PA, and continue for 20 stops before ending in Los Angeles, CA in November.
Elton John announced the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour all the way back in 2018, with this three-year expedition marking his retirement from touring. Dates across North America went smoothly for a while, with the tour grossing over $125 million and winning a Billboard Music Award for Top Rock Tour in 2019. However, things came to a screeching halt when the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to live music – and the final Elton John tour.
With a legacy that includes 30 studio albums, countless awards, and philanthropic efforts that have changed the world… Elton John is a musical icon that people everywhere were excited to see in concert. That’s why they were relieved when the English glam rock and pop singer took to Twitter to announce the rescheduled 2022 dates for the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.
“I’m going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career,” Elton John said in a video. “Whether it’s next summer in Frankfurt or at the legendary Dodger Stadium for the grand finale in the United States, I can’t wait to see you all on the road one last time.”
John has an extensive catalogue of hits that fans can expect to hear on the road, including “Tiny Dancer,” “I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues, and “Border Song.” He’s been a performer for nearly sixty years, and the final Elton John tour will have the British superstar pulling out all the stops. This is the final chapter, and he’s thrilled to take his biggest fans along for the ride.
