Dream Theater 2023 Tour Announcement – Dreamsonic Tour Schedule
Your favorite prog-metal masterminds are back! Dream Theater is touring in the summer of 2023 with its first-ever “Dreamsonic” traveling festival across the US. They’ll kick off on June 16th in Cedar Park, TX, continuing for over a month before finishing up on July 26th in Phoenix, AZ.
“We are all so incredibly excited to present Dream Theater’s very own prog-metal music festival, Dreamsonic 2023!” says the progressive rock band. “On our inaugural run this summer, we will be joined by special guest Devin Townsend, & Animals As Leaders! Dreamsonic promises to be a reoccurring musical event that will deliver history-making nights of amazing music for many years to come!”
Traveling festivals are becoming increasingly more common, and we’re all about it. Slipknot has Knotfest, Willie Nelson has the Outlaw Country Music Fest… and now Dream Theater are joining in. What can you expect from this trek? One prog-metal masterpiece after another, of course. They’ll be playing hits like “The Spirit Carries On,” “Honor Thy Father,” “Another Day,” and more from their nearly 35-year career.

This includes tracks from their fifteenth and latest album, 2021’s A View from the Top of the World. However, you can never be entirely sure about the setlist at a Dream Theater concert… as they try to switch it up every night! While not “technically” a jam band, the prog-metal heroes ensure that you’ll never see the same performance twice. Even if you’ve seen them five, ten, or fifty times over the past four decades.
Whether this includes stopping mid-song for a joke, swapping out lyrics, or playing a soundbite of The Simpsons theme song on the accordion during the chorus (it’s been done), Dream Theater can do it all. Known as one of the “big three” of the progressive metal genre, alongside Queensrÿche and Fates Warning, their hefty catalog of heavy hits is long enough to never have to play the same show twice. They have plenty of tricks up their sleeve, even after all these years, which they can’t wait to show you!
“Dream Theater doesn’t get to play any festival in the US, so they created their own,” says their former tour manager and music industry veteran Rikk Feulner. He’s not wrong. While the prog-metal genre is hardly unheard of, it’s often more niche than the stages of rock festivals like Aftershock and Louder than Life allow.
