Dead and Company 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Dead and Company is going back on tour, with 20 dates scheduled across summer 2022. The Grateful Dead tribute band, consisting of big names like Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and John Mayer, will kick off the trek on June 11th in Los Angeles, CA, and continue through July 16th in Queens, NY.
Dead and Company tours are a very frequent occurrence, taking place practically every year since the group’s formation in 2015. Except 2020, for obvious reasons. They returned to the stage with a bang last year on their first post-pandemic trek, and they’re not quite finished playing to packed crowds. In fact, they recently shut down rumors that this Dead and Company tour would be their last, with a few humorous exchanges between band members.
Grateful Dead founding member Bob Weir tweeted that the end of the Dead and Company tour era was “news to him.” Meanwhile, his longtime bandmate Bill Kreutzmann responded with, “Whew. I thought you knew something that I didn’t! #themusicneverstops.” It’s safe to say that most fans agreed with Kreutzmann, as Dead and Company has rightfully earned their place as one of the best jam bands of the 2020s.
Every single band member has been performing for decades, including Weir and John Mayer, who even took off on their own solo and side project tours in 2021. They’ll forever get a rush on playing their favorite songs to the crowd, and the feeling is mutual. The Dead and Company tour audience consists of everybody from those who loved Grateful Dead in the 1960s (before Mayer was born) to Gen Z, who found them on TikTok. And then there are those in between, like Mayer, who started as a superfan and eventually ended up playing alongside his idols.
Dead and Company began in 2015 when John Mayer, a multiplatinum solo artist, channeled his love for The Grateful Dead into his work and began a friendship with former member Bob Weir. Long story short, they became best friends and convinced ex-Grateful Dead players Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann to join them in a new band. Many Dead and Company tours and hordes of fans later, they have made a new name for themselves in the vast folk, rock, and blues landscapes. And you can join them in the crowd to witness one of the greatest jam bands of our time.
