Chvrches 2021 Tour Announcement – Screen Violence Tour Schedule
Chvrches are ready for a winter tour like never before, and you don’t want to miss seeing the synth-pop trio in action! Performances begin November 9th in Houston, TX, and go on throughout the year before wrapping up on December 18th in Hollywood, CA.
Excluding two summer 2021 performances in Los Angeles, CA, and Boston, MA, respectively, this will be the first Chvrches tour since before the pandemic. The Scotland-born synth-pop trio is heading to the US to support their brand new album, Screen Violence, and it’s going to be lots of fun!
The fourth Chvrches album is gaining critical acclaim mere weeks after its August 2021 release. AllMusic praises the “epic songs about letting go but holding onto the ability to feel,” which “make for a stunning creative rebirth.” Meanwhile, Pitchfork applauds the album’s back-and-forth between dreamy and dreadful themes, saying that Screen Violence “outshines their last few years of deliberately ‘happy’ music.”
Don’t get us wrong; this album still has plenty of the upbeat, indie-pop sound that you’re used to from Chvrches. But since it was recorded during the pandemic, you can also expect a bit of darkness. Just listen to the single, “How Not to Drown,” featuring the Cure’s Robert Smith… and you’ll see what we mean!
Another standout track is “California,” which pays homage to Chvrches second home of Los Angeles. A great way to symbolize the sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes happy theme of Screen Violence? One of the first post-pandemic Chvrches concerts took place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where they played upbeat and hopeful songs amongst an iconic setting.
