Ben Harper is touring in 2023! Are you ready to get swept away by his soulful voice and gentle strumming on every instrument you can imagine? He’ll kick off on September 29th in Richmond, VA, making stops in Burlington, VT, Royal Oak, MI, Milwaukee, WI, and more before concluding on October 15th in Prior Lake, MN.
It’s been less than a year since Harper came out with his sixteenth and latest album, 2022’s Bloodline Maintenance. But believe it or not, he’s already on track to come out with a new record in the next few months! Wide Open Light is set for release on June 2nd, further cementing Harper’s reputation as one of the hardest-working musicians in the game. We’re constantly in awe of his distinctive blend of blues, folk, rock, and reggae, which comes out in full force on his new single, “Yard Sale,” with Jack Johnson.
It’s far from the first time that Harper and Johnson have worked together, but definitely one of the best! The track details the final stages of a breakup and all the confusion, despair, and reminiscing that comes with it… something that most of us can relate to. It’s the first single in a record that Harper has referred to as “intentionally minimalist,” which he expanded on in a recent interview. “There was once a time when albums didn’t need an adjacent story or fable,” says Harper, “When the songs. were enough. I’m excited to return to this.”
For what it’s worth, Harper has always been enough! The Grammy-nominated singer has a three-decade catalog of hits, including everything from foot-tapping bops to heartwrenching ballads.
