Arctic Monkeys 2023 Tour Announcement – The Car Tour Schedule
An Arctic Monkeys tour is heading our way in 2023! Joined by Fontaines D.C., the English rock group will kick off on August 25th in Minneapolis, MN, making stops in Toronto, ON, Boston, MA, Austin, TX, and more before concluding on September 29th in Los Angeles, CA.
There’s a lot to celebrate on this Arctic Monkeys tour, which supports the band’s seventh studio album, The Car. Marking their first record since 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, Alex Turner and his bandmates are showcasing some of their most iconic indie-rock hits. And that’s saying something for a group that VICE once called “probably the UK’s biggest, most culturally important band.” Just listen to their latest single, “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball,” which makes you want to lift up your cell phone lighter and rock out in the crowd simultaneously.
Luckily, you can 100% do both at the upcoming Arctic Monkeys tour, courtesy of new tracks like “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am,” “Body Paint,” and “Mr. Schwartz.” Arctic Monkeys have always blurred the lines between full-blown rock and softer material that makes you want to sway along, and The Car is no exception. Vocalist Alex Turner recently opened up about the songwriting process to The Guardian, which makes us all the more excited for its release on October 21st.
“Rather than strings on top of rock,” he told the publication, “I was interested in switching the ‘rock band’ bit on and off.” “With the Sculptures song” – referring to the dizzyingly beautiful future hit, “Sculptures of Anything Goes” – “the ‘rock band’ fader comes up for two bars here and there, and then it’s switched back off.” He concludes by saying that he didn’t remember doing that so deliberately. Not on the band’s debut album, 2006’s Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, or any of the multiplatinum others in between. It only took sixteen years, endless accolades, and a global pandemic for Alex Turner to feel comfortable being the rock frontman he is and to turn it off on occasion, and we can’t wait to see it live.
In addition to the new songs off The Car, this Arctic Monkeys tour will also include their older favorites like “I Wanna Be Yours,” “R U Mine?”, “Snap Out of It,” and more. One of the UK’s most influential rock bands is coming back together after years off the road, and it will be a blast. Get your tickets to the Arctic Monkeys tour today!
