Andy Grammer 2023 Tour Announcement – New Money Tour Schedule
Andy Grammer has announced the “New Money tour” for summer 2023! The multi-platinum pop-rock singer will begin performing on July 11th in Asheville, NC, making stops in Durham, NC, Lowell, MA, Tulsa, OK, and more before concluding on August 3rd in Salt Lake City, UT.
This Andy Grammer tour is named for his new spoken-word song, “I Need A New Money,” which has both old and new fans talking. The music video has racked up over 6 million views on YouTube! Meanwhile, the generally soulful and upbeat singer has opted for a more poetic style that reevaluates society’s relationship with money. “You’re telling me that we’ve agreed to tie self-worth to what we’re paid? Well, what a grave mistake to make,” Grammer raps. “If the scoreboard counts in dollars, what kind of game you’d think we’ll play? Yo, I am not merely an economic unit.”
The song goes on for many more verses about our addiction to currency and how it defines us, marking a departure in both songwriting style and musical subject matter for Andy Grammer. He’s the first to admit that it’s not his signature way of doing things, which is what makes the track so exciting. “I’ve spent my career trying to make music that is uplifting and positive and grounded in reality,” he says. “And a lot of times the way that actually works is when it’s grounded in pain.”
“One of my first singles that went pretty big was a song called ‘Keep Your Head Up,’ and on its surface, ‘Keep Your Head Up’ could go cheesy, but I wrote it because my mom had just died. And I was trying to figure my life out.” Along that same realm is “I Need New Money,” which is a relatable tune for most of us. “I think that I have really struggled with the purpose of money in my life,” Grammer said. “You grow up in America; you just go like, ‘Make as much as you can! Go for it! If you can get the most, this is the game, and then you win.”
“And that just has not seemed to be the case in my life,” he continues. “So I’m constantly searching for what the right balance is, with money, and the way that we work for it, and the way that it affects us.” That theme of money will continue with his next project, Love Is the New Money, which is now available for pre-save and set for release on May 5th. It’s been a while since his last full-length album, 2019’s Naive, and almost a year since his 2022 EP, The Art of Joy, so we can’t wait to see what Grammer has planned next!
These Andy Grammer concerts will include not only new singles like “Good In Me,” “These Tears,” and “I Need A New Money,” but also his older tracks from more than a decade ago. Can you believe it’s been twelve years since he released his self-titled debut? From spoken-word sessions to stunning vocals on songs like “Don’t Give Up On Me,” “Good to Be Alive,” and “Fresh Eyes,” this will be a beautiful experience for any Andy Grammer fan.
