Aminé is almost finished with The Best Tour Ever. Yes, that’s actually what it’s called, and it’s not an exaggeration. You can next see the 27-year-old rapper on April 22nd in Minneapolis, MN, with two more dates that month before the final show on May 21st in Stanford, CA.
As the posts on Aminé’s Instagram indicate, The Best Tour Ever has been living up to its name. He regularly posts photos of himself high-fiving the crowd and running across the stage as he sings-raps his biggest hits. We’re talking about “Caroline,” “Spice Girl,” and “Compensating,” along with new tracks from his latest record, 2021’s TwoPointFive.
Pitchfork states that Aminé’s fourth album “sounds like a controlled sugar rush, folding elements of pop and dance into his bright raps. Meanwhile, Billboard called TwoPointFive, “his most experimental offering to date.” Serving as a follow-up to 2018’s OnePointFive, the rapper’s latest mixtape is a return to his cheerful and colorful aesthetic after the darkness of 2020’s Limbo.
Limbo was released in August 2020, right around the pandemic’s peak and amid the Black Lives Matter movement. The songs featured more serious themes, including race relations and growing pains for the Ethiopian-American artist, and marked his turn into the more mature territory. These grown-up jams continue on OnePointFive while implementing the same sunny vibes that made Aminé famous.
