David Byrne 2025 Tour Announcement – Who Is the Sky? Tour Schedule

David Byrne is reaching for the sky, pun intended, in 2025. The former Talking Heads frontman will embark on the “Who Is the Sky?” Tour, beginning on September 14th in Providence, RI, and continuing through December 6th in Miami, FL. 

“Someone I know said, ‘David, you use the word “everybody” a lot.’ I suppose I do that to give an anthropological view of life in New York as we know it,” Byrne said in a press release about his ninth album, Who Is the Sky?, which drops on September 5th. “Everybody lives, dies, laughs, cries, sleeps and stares at the ceiling. Everybody’s wearing everybody else’s shoes, which not everybody does, but I have done.”

“I tried to sing about these things that could be seen as negative in a way balanced by an uplifting feeling from the groove and the melody, especially at the end, when St. Vincent and I are doing a lot of hollering and singing together. Music can do that—hold opposites simultaneously.” St. Vincent is just one of the artists that Byrne has collaborated with on this new record, as you’ll also hear Ghost Train Orchestra and Hayley Williams from Paramore on “What Is the Reason For It?”

Byrne kicked off this album cycle with the lead single “Everybody Laughs,” a laid-back, orchestral pop number about the human experience. Texting on your smartphone, hanging out in a restaurant, listening to music with friends (like at a David Byrne concert, perhaps)? It’s all talked about in this simple-but-surreal track, and it’s just the beginning of Byrne’s pop-meets-new-wave-meets-post-punk prowess.
