Omar Apollo is giving fans what they want on the “God Said No tour!” Supporting his sophomore album of the same name, the genre-bending singer will begin on August 20th in Indianapolis, IN. He’ll make 30+ stops before wrapping up on October 11th in San Diego, CA.
Set for release on June 28th, God Said No is a deeply personal project for Apollo. How can he follow up his debut, 2022’s Ivory, which earned him a GRAMMY nomination and millions of new fans who can’t get enough of his fearless musical fusions? In an interview with Rolling Stone, Apollo described this album as a “reflection of his life for the past 2 years.” He also referred to it as a “a sequence that is made to be listened to front to back” and a “survey of the emotional wreckage that followed the end of a torrid love affair.” It’s certainly a lot to take in, but if anyone can make sweet music out of heartache, it’s Omar Apollo.
Drawing on influences from funk, jazz, and traditional Mexican music, which he skillfully integrates into his modern R&B framework, these new songs are as innovative as you’d expect.
