The Sisters of Mercy 2024 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
The Sisters of Mercy are back for more! The English gothic rock band will begin a new tour this fall with Blaqk Audio, the side gig of AFI members Davey Havok and Jade Puget. They’ll begin on September 14th in Detroit, MI, continuing through October 26th in Toronto, ON.
In 2023, we were treated to the first The Sisters of Mercy tour in over 15 years…and it was as electric as you’d expect. Frontman Andrew Eldritch gathered his bandmates on the country’s best stages to pick up right where they left off, serving up one gothic-meets-psychedelic-meets-punk rock hit after another. And for the fans who hadn’t heard “Temple of Love,” “This Corrosion,” or “Black Planet” live in nearly two decades, their thirst was immediately quenched.
But have no fear, as those who were unable to attend the Sisters of Mercy reunion tour will get another chance very soon! Eldritch and Co. are gearing up for yet another trek across the US, in which they work through 40+ years, 3 albums, and endless old and new singles with the same fire they did years ago. Yes, you heard that correctly…they’ve only released three Sisters of Mercy albums — 1985’s First and Last and Always, 1987’s Floodland, and 1990’s Vision Thing.
There are several reasons why they stopped recording, including a strike against their record company and member scheduling difficulties. But ultimately, these consequences don’t really matter anymore. Sisters of Mercy are back and better than ever! While they’ve been open about their plans (or lack thereof) to record new music, they have confirmed that they may live debut a new song or two onstage. And it’s an unorthodox but mega-exciting (in true SOM style) to kick off their new chapter.
“I don’t know that I really feel the need,” Eldritch told The Quietus about the potential of a new album. “We do kind of record stuff once in a while, but I’m not going to lock the lads in the studio for nine months, only to give everything away at the end of it. For two reasons: one probably does have to give everything away these days, and one would probably have to pay the guitar players – and there’s a bit of a dilemma there, isn’t there? I could just sit there for 18 months and play it all myself, but I’d rather not do that.”
You heard the man! Why sit in the studio for months when you can play these new tracks in full of a group of wide-eyed and loving longtime fans? This new The Sisters of Mercy tour will be a star-studded spectacle from start to finish, and you can now get tickets for the following dates!
