James Bay 2022 Tour Announcement – Leap Tour Schedule
James Bay has announced his Leap tour for fall 2022, taking the folk and Americana singer to ten cities. He kicks off on August 23rd in Orlando, FL, and visits Detroit, MI, Nashville, TN, Philadelphia, PA, and more before the final show on September 11th in Washington, DC.
Bay’s third album, Leap, is set for release in early July, and fans can’t wait to hear his first record in four years. They’ve already gotten a sneak peek with singles like “Give Me the Reason” and “One Life,” the second of which was accompanied by a heartfelt video complete with re-enacted home movies. With Bay exclaiming in the chorus, “I’ve only got one life, and I want you in it,” many speculate that the song is about his longtime girlfriend, Lucy. While this may be true, he also has many other life milestones to incorporate into his music in 2022.
The Grammy-nominated British singer became a father last year, which he mentioned in many interviews as one of his happiest moments. Or rather joyful, yet chaotic. When dealing with a newborn baby, a global pandemic, and a high-pressure situation of creating a new record, you tend to yearn for a more calming and mellow presence. And that’s exactly what Bay did with Leap.
“On my second album [2018’s Electric Light], I threw a bunch of synths at my music and electronic sounds, and I had a brilliant time pushing the boundaries in that respect,” Bay told NME. “This time, I’ve fallen back to the guitar and an even more stripped-back type of sonic.” He also compared his newly mellow sound on Leap to his 2015 chart-topper, “The Chaos and the Calm.” And considering the song helped him earn three 2016 Grammy nominations — for “Best New Artist,” “Best Rock Album,” and “ Best Rock Song,” respectively — it’s a path that’s proved to work for Bay.
