Buddy Guy is going on a co-headlining tour with John Hiatt & the Goners in spring 2022, and it’s a lineup of music legends that you don’t want to miss. The trek will kick off on April 7th in Westbury, NY, and continue through September 15th in Colorado Springs, CO.
It’s difficult to know where to begin when discussing the legacy of Buddy Guy. The 85-year-old guitarist has been sharing his certified brand of Chicago blues since the 1950s, earning eight Grammys plus a Lifetime Achievement Award and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And then there’s the fact that Eric Clapton once described him as “the best guitar player alive,” while Guy has inspired nearly every rock guitarist you can imagine. John Hiatt is another guitarist that’s been long inspired by the likes of Buddy Guy and vice versa. The two blues-rock musicians go way back, covering each other’s songs and developing a friendship that’s lasted for decades. This chemistry transfers to the stage each time they perform, and even in their late 60s (Hiatt) and mid-80s (Guy), the two guitar heroes will give you a show you’ve never seen before.
Guy is continuing to support his 18th album, 2018’s The Blues is Alive and Well, which has quite the cheeky title coming from the blues legend. He confirmed to Rolling Stone in 2020 that he’s currently working on a new record, but no release date has yet been set. His biggest priority is getting back on stage where he belongs, and he’s going to put on a post-pandemic show that’s bigger than anything he’s done in his career.
