Bob Weir 2022 Performance Announcement – Wolf Bros Residency Schedule

Bob Weir has a four-night residency planned in Washington, DC, in February 2022, and he’s bringing the Wolf Bros with him! Catch Bob Weir and Wolf Bros, one of his many side projects, at the John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts on February 9th, 10th, 12th, and 13th.

Fresh off his fall tour with Dead & Company, Weir already has a new set of shows planned for 2022. That being said, they’re going to be very different than the rock star antics you’re used to from him. These performances in Washington, DC, will be with his band Wolf Bros, whom he intended to tour with during spring 2021 before the pandemic put it on hold… and they’ll be playing alongside the National Symphony Orchestra.

Yes, you read that correctly. Grateful Dead’s founding member and former guitarist has been working on this project with the orchestra and a string and bass quintet – orchestrating the most popular songs from the original jam band for a must-see event. Grateful Dead is a massive part of Weir’s legacy, and he intends to do them justice in Washington, DC.

“We’ve orchestrated the songs in a fashion where they can be employed modularly, so that, for instance, if we do a three-night run at one venue and then go to another venue, the songs won’t come in the same order,” Weir told Relix in March 2021. “It’s going to be like all my bands do it—every night will be different.”

Bob Weir is a jam band member at his core, which means a unique setlist each night! This includes songs by Grateful Dead and Weir’s solo music and side projects – and with nearly sixty years of material at their fingertips, the orchestra will surely keep busy during this residency. 

Weir has never liked being bored, even during a pandemic. That’s why he planned a rescheduled Dead & Company tour, worked with an orchestra, and continued work on his upcoming memoir while live music was on pause.
