Young the Giant 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Young the Giant is touring soon with their friends, Milky Chance! The SoCal-based indie rock group will kick off on May 30th in Laval, QC, continuing through summer 2023 before concluding on August 31st in Dillon, CO.
The band continues to support their fifth and latest album, American Bollywood, released in November 2022. It’s only part one of what will be a four-episode saga for the group, which has been praised heavily by fans and critics. Atwood Magazine calls the record “an ambitious, expansive, and resounding triumph that unpacks themes of identity, belonging, home, and the multi-generational saga of the immigrant in America.” They also call it “some of the best music of the band’s career,” guided by Young the Giant frontman Sameer Gadhia’s own experiences that resonate with millions across the globe.
It had been four years since 2018’s Mirror Master, and Young the Giant knew it wouldn’t be easy to top songs like “Superposition” and “Call Me Back.” However, they did just that and then some. How did a record as personal and profound as American Bollywood come to be? Gadhia explained it in his own words, which are equally heartfelt and heartbreaking.
“It’s been over four years since Mirror Master. Since then, three of us became fathers, a global pandemic made it impossible for us to see you on tour, and we left the major record label system by exiting a previously career-spanning contract,” he said in a statement. “By 2020, we had written a whole album, but in the wake of so much change, we were not only forced to re-evaluate what we wanted to say with our music but who we were as humans.”
After writing 100 or so songs, the frontman “erased the whiteboard” and started a new beginning. He “started to tell the multi-generational saga of the American immigrant, and the origins, exiles, battles, and denouement of reclaiming our collective identity.” “This is not just the story of an Indian-American caught in between two worlds,” he explains, “it’s also our universal search to find meaning in chaos.” Young the Giant has never strayed away from the intensely personal subject matter in their music, as shown by songs like “My Body,” “Cough Syrup,” and “Mind Over Matter.” However, this new record takes things to the next level, and you’ll sing and cry along to every last song.
There are still three more parts to the American Bollywood story, but for right now, they’re giving the album the love it deserves on this Young the Giant tour. Will you be there to witness their musical and spiritual transformation? Get your tickets now!
