Wizkid 2021 Tour Schedule – Made in Lagos Tour Announcement
He may be “made in Lagos,” but Wizkid is ready for a stint in North America. Beginning September 10th in Boston, MA, the Made in Lagos tour will make 17 stops around the US and Canada to celebrate the Nigerian singer’s fourth studio album.
Released in 2020, Made in Lagos received critical acclaim in a year that was undeniably difficult for music. The 31-year-old singer’s revolutionary Afropop hits made the “best albums of 2020” lists for top publications like The Guardian and NME. Pitchfork even gave Wizkid what one can assume is one of the greatest compliments of his career:
“Wizkid balances the formula to unite home and abroad with big pop songs that can compete across cultures and an underlying theme that embraces his roots,” says Pitchfork in a rave review on Made in Lagos.
Indeed, Wizkid has never been shy about his roots. He rose to fame in Africa with his debut studio album, 2011’s Superstar, and frequently discusses his background within his Afrobeats hits.
It was in 2016 that Wizkid truly began to rise to prominence in the United States. He collaborated with Drake on the hit “One Dance,” which reached number one worldwide and helped Wizkid launch his third album (and major-label debut), SFTOS. He’s been making waves in the music industry ever since and Made in Lagos marks a new chapter for one of Africa’s most prominent artists.
Wizkid is all set to bring Lagos to your hometown stage, and you don’t want to miss the chance to see him perform Afrobeats from one of 2020’s best albums. Check the tour dates below, and purchase tickets on July 9th!
