Wilco 2022 Tour Announcement – Cruel Country Tour Schedule
Wilco is soon touring in support of their twelfth album, Cruel Country, and we can’t wait to see the jam band in action! They’ll kick off the trek on May 27th in North Adams, MA, the same day their new record is released, continuing through October 7th in Columbia, MO.
This Wilco tour begins with the band’s annual Solid Sound Festival, and it’s truly the perfect start to their 2022 trek. You can watch your other favorite indie and heartland rock bands between Wilco sets while checking out the exquisite art exhibit… what’s not to love? The Wilco band members have always been born performers, with almost thirty years on the road playing heartland rock hits from 12 albums, and they can’t wait to take their new songs to the stage.
New singles include “Falling Apart (Right Now)” and Tired of Taking It Out on You,” and there’s plenty more to come on the double album. Speaking on the latter single, Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy told Consequence that there’s a lot of meaning behind it.
“I’ve realized over the years that a lot of the songs I’ve written have worked as reminders to myself to pay attention to various things,” Tweedy said about “Tired Of Taking It Out On You.” “Sometimes I think I’ve figured out how the world works in some small way, and I worry I’ll forget it if I don’t sing it back to myself occasionally.” So, it’s like an iPhone post-it note in the form of a song? It’s a statement that’s perfectly Wilco, and he wasn’t done there.
“I’m a person who needs to stay alert to how I’m treating others when I’m not feeling my best,” Tweedy continued.” And now that I mention it, when I look around, it seems like a lot of us have been taking things out on each other when we would be better served striving for understanding and empathy.” “I’m just trying to be honest with myself,” he concluded, “and I guess I’m hoping if this song can help me focus on that, maybe someone else could find it useful in the same way.”
The last few years haven’t brought out the best in us as humans, but that’s something that Wilco is trying to tackle with Cruel Country. Expect equal amounts of heartland and art-rock beats over beautiful lyrics about compassion, in true Wilco fashion, all of which will be played for the first time on the upcoming 2022 Wilco tour.
