Wilco 2021 Tour Announcement – Ode to Joy Tour Schedule
Wilco is finally ready to embark on their Ode to Joy tour this fall, which visits all the major cities across the West Coast! Performances begin on October 9th in Olympia, WA, and continue through the month before ending on the 26th in Los Angeles, CA!
The Ode to Joy tour comes right on the heels of Wilco’s “It’s Time” tour, which ran through August as the group played the East Coast with support from Sleater-Kinney. While fans in California were a little jealous seeing their favorite “former country, current rock” band play shows in Boston; their hometown shows were just around the corner. And now Wilco will be playing venues in Napa, Oakland, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles!
Ode to Joy is named for Wilco’s eleventh album released in 2019 but never received a dedicated tour due to the pandemic. Better late than never, right? Fans and critics loved this album, which featured profound lyrics over the band’s signature indie and soft rock beats.
Paste even stated that Ode to Joy was “larger-than-life soft rock full of both grand ideas about the state of our world and small musings about matters of the heart.” Both of these things were abundant in an emotional year like 2020, and many fans had the record on repeat. That being said, the live experience of a Wilco concert will exceed even the best quality sounds from your AirPods or car speakers.
How did the band that formed from leftover members of the country band, Uncle Tupelo, in 1994 become one of the best indie rock bands of the 2000s? It took perseverance, a few member changes, and patience from their adoring fans… but Wilco is still on a roll.
