There’s still time to see a King Krule concert in 2023! The artist who calls himself “Edgar The Beatmaker” has five shows scheduled for September. He’ll begin on the 18th in Portland, OR, stopping in Vancouver, BC, Seattle, WA, and Oakland, CA, before concluding on the 25th in Los Angeles, CA.

King Krule, born Archy Marshall, is in the final stages of his sold out “Space Heavy Tour,” named for his fifth album of the same name. The record received four-star reviews from publications like AllMusic, NME, and Slant Magazine, further cementing King Krule’s status as a genre-fusing, ultra-fresh take on modern music. Yes, we said it. You have have heard of country-pop or rap-rock, but what about punk jazz with elements of hip-hop, post-punk and darkwave? It’s Marshall’s specialty, which you’ll see and hear from the moment you blast Space Heavy through your speakers.

The dreamy and sombre soundscapes just keep coming with each track, including singles like “Seaforth,” “Flimsier,” and “If Only It Was Warmth.” Are the lyrics melancholy yet masterful, as longtime fans have come to expect from King Krule? Sure, but he always pulls off this musical trope astoundingly. Just ask Clash, who described the album as “an ambitious world of dreams, loss, and the bleak brutality of the universe.” They added that Space Heavy is also “a dynamic, visceral body of work, every bar demanding attention with its chronic shapeshifting nature”. The same could be said about King Krule himself.

The London-bred Marshall has been making headlines in the music industry for over a decade now. First, with his debut album, 6 Feet Beneath The Moon, which celebrated its tenth anniversary this year and set the precedent for King Krule’s ever-present celestial aesthetic. It was the first project that demonstrated his smooth vocals, instrumental abilities, and uncanny ability to write seemingly-depressing lyrics in a dreamy way. However, it definitely wasn’t the last.
