Where to See Erykah Badu in 2022
Three Erykah Badu concerts are coming up in the summer and fall 2022, and you shouldn’t wait to get tickets for the R&B soul artist. The first takes place on August 5th in Brooklyn, NY, while she’ll also appear on September 2nd in Dallas, TX, and on the 11th in Highland Park, IL.
The first full-length Erykah Badu tour in over a decade, called “Live from Badubotron,” took place last year. And as much as she enjoyed the time off, the 51-year-old singer filled venues like Hollywood Bowl and Amalie Arena with tons of nostalgia from her top neo-soul songs. You may remember “Tyrone,” “On & On,” and “Otherside of the Game” from the 90s, while tracks like “In Love With You,” “Didn’t Cha Know,” and “Window Seat” were your 2000s jams.
She hasn’t released new music in a while, with her last studio album being 2010’s New Amerykah Part Two. However, fans did get a taste of her 2010s style with a mixtape, 2015’s But You Caint Use My Phone. Badu’s musical style has shifted over the decades, but one thing has remained constant… her soulful voice. She’s paved the way for neo-soul artists for nearly three decades and continues to be one of the genre’s most successful singers.
Of course, simply calling Erykah Badu a singer is an understatement. She’s also a producer, writer, actress, and all-around musical prodigy. Often called the “Queen of Neo-Soul,” the multiplatinum artist has impressed listeners with her talents since her debut album, Baduizm, in 1997. She’s jokingly stated that she’s not the biggest fan of touring, calling herself “the laziest artist probably in Dallas,” but had to make her post-pandemic debut in one of the most extensive Erykah Badu tours in years.
“I didn’t miss it,” she said about touring in 2021. “I’ve always wanted to perform from my bed at home. I’m the laziest artist probably in Dallas. I never wanted to do the packing and going through the car and luggage and the hotel and, ‘What’s the password? What’s the internet?’ You get tired after years and years of doing it, you know?” However, a global pandemic can change many things, and she was inspired to embark on her first set of Erykah Badu concerts in a long time. It’s not every day that the Queen of Neo-Soul hits the stage, and you can’t miss your chance to get tickets to these performances!
