Trampled By Turtles 2021 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Trampled By Turtles is on tour with Mt. Joy this fall, and it’s the ultimate bash for bluegrass fans. On September 10th in Grand Rapids, MI, the next performance takes place, with U.S. performances continuing through October 16th in Charleston, SC.
“I’m very excited about it,” singer Dave Simonett told American Songwriter about the Trampled by Turtles tour. “I’m really most excited to get back together with the band and the crew. I mean, these folks are like family members to me. I spend more time with anybody, usually—I just miss everybody and everything.”
The six-piece bluegrass group has stayed busy since the return of live music, playing with bands like CAAMP and selling out venues across the country. While many bluegrass groups like to play the small stages, this Minnesota-founded band has performed at the country’s most iconic venues – like Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, and Les Schwab Amphitheatre in Bend, OR.
What has contributed to the success of Trampled By Turtles since their formation eighteen years ago? It’s undoubtedly the energetic live performances and catchy bluegrass hits like “Wait So Long” and “Ain’t No Use in Tryin’,” plus many more from their ten albums. But it’s also the unapologetic artistry and constant need to have fun, even with the occasional bad Twitter comment.
“I think a lot of it is not feeling like we have to sound like a bluegrass anything,” mandolin player Erik Berry told the Missoula Current in July. “It’s not like we are doing anything earth-shattering. It’s more of like just do what you want; if it sounds cool, it will be cool.”
