Can we talk about The Cult? The English band is hitting the road again with their “8424 tour,” celebrating an incredible 40 years of goth rock realness. Beginning on September 4th in Montreal, QC, they’ll stop in Thunder Bay, ON, Enoch, AB, Redding, CA, and more before concluding on October 1st in Valley Center, CA.
This tour will be a trip down memory lane, packed with songs from The Cure’s beloved eleven-album catalog. With hits from their early days like “She Sells Sanctuary,” “Wild Flower,” and “Rain,” along with modern essentials from their latest album, 2022’s Under the Midnight Sun, fans of every generation will be satisfied. Especially since Ian Astbury and Co. can still put on a stellar performance that rivals even their 1980s heydays.
With their eclectic outfits, Astbury’s instantly-recognizable voice, and a unique sound that ranges from hard rock and post-punk to a bit of new wave, The Cult garners attention everywhere they go. Even through several hiatuses and countless member changes, the band’s sound has remained steady and ever-so-desirable over the last 40 years.
And while they didn’t release new music for a while, with a six-year-gap between 2016’s Hidden City and Under the Midnight Sun, fans always knew they’d make a comeback. And that, they did!
