Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are teaming up yet again in 2024! The two legendary guitarists will kick off the “Satch-Vai Tour” on March 22nd in Orlando, FL. They’ll stop in Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, New York, NY, and more before concluding on May 8th in Salt Lake City, UT.
When these two guitar gods come together in harmony, the most unreal happenings occur for rock fans around the world. Vai and Satriani have a bond that’s lasted that’s lasted through nearly seven decades, countless joint tours, top-charting albums and more. Can you believe that they met while Satriani was Vai’s guitar teacher when he was a teenager? And that they’re now heading on not one but two treks together in 2024?
As thrilled as we are for the G3 Tour with Eric Johnson in the spring, anyone who has seen Steve Vai and Joe Satriani play together know that once isn’t nearly enough. And that includes the two guitar gods themselves. “Every time we play together it takes me back to when we were teenagers,” Satriani told Guitar World. “Eating and breathing music every second of the day, pushing, challenging and helping each other to be the best we could be. I guess we’ve never stopped!”
“Touring with Joe is always a pleasure and an honor,” adds Vai. “He is my favorite guitarist to jam with, and now we have another opportunity to take it to the stage. Vai is a three-time Grammy winner who has worked with everyone from Alice Cooper and Motörhead to Mary J. Blige. Known for his complex time signature and otherwordly guitar techniques, Vai is supporting his eleventh album, 2023’s Vai/Gash, on the Satch-Vai Tour. As for Joe Satriani? He’s transitioned from a “guitar teacher to the stars” to an instrumental icon in his own right.
