Squeeze and Boy George 2024 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Two British icons are coming to the US! Squeeze and Boy George are all set for their co-headlining tour this summer, taking them to sixteen cities. They’ll kick off on August 14th in Eugene, OR, stopping in Costa Mesa, CA, Austin, TX, Atlantic City, NJ, and more before concluding on September 17th in New York City.
Let’s get this out of the way…it’s a bit surprising that Boy George and Squeeze have never collaborated onstage before this. It seems obvious, doesn’t it? The two new-wave icons share a similar risk-taking but revolutionary sound, theatrical flair, and proud British roots, just to name a few things. And while they’ve cheered each other on from the side lines, fans have silently hoped for them to collaborate on tour. Now, their wishes are finally coming true as Boy George and Squeeze make their mark on the US.
Both artists have a good reason to celebrate, too. Boy George is just coming off his run in Moulin Rouge on Broadway, a very on-brand side project for the flamboyant singer, and is now ready to go solo once again. Well, kind of. He’ll perform a mix of solo hits like “Everything I Own” and “The Crying Game,” along with songs from his time in the band Culture Club, which helped him rise to superstardom back in the 80s.
In fact, Boy George symbolizes the decade in a very real way. The famously androgynous singer lives for colorful outfits, high-pitched vocals, and wild hairstyles that had everyone calling him the next David Bowie. He did one better and created his own legacy as a theatrical and mega-talented musician, which you’ll see firsthand on tour! With some help from his friends in Squeeze, of course, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2024.
While they’re set to embark on their own anniversary Squeeze tour soon, the new wave-meets-power pop band couldn’t resist the chance to hit the road with Boy George. The resilient group has survived member changes, hiatuses, music industry shifts and so much more over the past half decade. And they intend to celebrate with a stacked setlist consisting of all their greatest hits. With fifteen standout albums to Squeeze’s name, it’s not that hard to do!
We constantly find ourselves jamming along to “Cool For Cats” “Up the Junction,” “Black Coffee In Bed,” “Pulling Mussels” and more. Additionally, they also came out of recording hiatus in the 2010s to release two albums of new material, 2015’s Cradle to the Grave and 2017’s The Knowledge! Squeeze songs are genre-defying and dance-worthy bops that you can’t help but move along to. And with Boy George in the mix, you can expect a night of 80s revival that feels right whether you experienced the decade or not.
