Sofi Tukker 2022 Tour Announcement – Wet Tennis Tour Schedule
Sofi Tukker continues to perform in support of their second album, Wet Tennis. Who else can’t wait to see the EDM duo? Their next concert takes place on August 20th in Chicago, IL, with stops in Dallas, TX, Detroit, MI, Seattle, WA, and more before concluding on January 7, 2023, in Portland, OR.
The duo, comprised of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, first announced the Wet Tennis tour in early summer 2022. They’ve had a blast playing new tracks like “Original Sin,” “Forgive Me,” and “Kakee,” and can’t wait to visit a dozen new cities. Their sophomore album, the first since their 2018 debut, Treehouse, was well-received by fans and critics alike. Slant Magazine called Wet Tennis an “exuberant celebration of love and globalism,” while Clash Music described the record as a “refreshing collection of totally danceable pop bangers.” This essentially sums up Sofi Tukker in one sentence.
“Danceable pop bangers” are Sofi Tukker’s bread and butter, having released plenty of them since their formation in 2014. Their 2018 debut produced fan favorites like “Drinkee,” “Best Friend,” and “Purple Hat,” and even earned them a Grammy nomination for “Best Dance/Electronic Album.” As they’ve said goodbye to Treehouse and hello to Wet Tennis, they’ve had a blast with the most captivating and colorful concerts that draw in packed crowds.
What exactly does Wet Tennis represent? They broke it down to EDM.com. “The ‘WET’ part is excitement, flow, sweat,” Hawley-Weld says, “Then there’s the ‘TENNIS’ part, which is everything that we do is a back and forth.” “Traditionally, tennis has been very exclusive, and you must dress in all-white to get into the country club. We really wanted to flip tennis on its head and make it wet and colorful and make it inclusive.”
“The acronym [‘When everyone tries to evolve, nothing negative is safe’] is basically what we really wanted to say,” Halpern added. “It’s a thesis statement of the whole idea and what we wanted to put out into the world. We want people to leave this album feeling good and feeling hopeful and inspired to build and evolve and be better, always.” They’ve achieved that and more with Wet Tennis, which is quickly racking up streams and spots on the Billboard chart.
