Royal Blood 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Royal Blood is coming back to the US! The English rock duo will perform all fall to support their upcoming fourth album, Back to the Water Below. They kick off on September 18th in Detroit, MI, making 25 stops before finishing up on November 27th in Del Mar, CA.
It’s clear from the Royal Blood Instagram that members Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher have had a blast performing alongside Muse this year in Europe. From light shows in Amsterdam to good times in Glastonbury, they’ve put on a sensational show everywhere they go! But there’s no place like the US, either, and they can’t wait to play old and new essentials in front of American crowds. While their new record doesn’t come out until September 8th, they’ve already released the first single, “Mountains at Midnight.”
Featuring a heavy intro that seamlessly transitions into a psychedelic, riff-ridden chorus, the track is a flawless amalgamation of everything they’ve done so far. You can easily pinpoint elements from their 2014 self-titled debut, 2017’s How Did We Get So Dark, and 2021’s Typhoons. However, the new single still has a fresh and distinctive feel that sets it apart from the rest. Not to mention, it will make for a headbang-worthy performance at upcoming Royal Blood concerts!
“It’s always about getting people’s attention, and songs of this nature seem to be rare,” Kerr told NME about Mountains at Midnight. “It sounds so much like us and what we’re known for. As a reintroduction to us, it felt like a bold way to come back and say, ‘Hi!’” How will this record differ from Typhoons? For one, it’s self-produced and guided by advice from A-list musicians like Jack White and Rick Rubin. Kerr also revealed that he would be less open lyrically on this album, which was a personal artist choice.
“I promised myself that I wouldn’t delve too much into lyric meanings on this one – only because I spent so much of the last album dissecting the songs to the point where there was nothing left worth listening to anymore,” he said. “What I will say is that there is a lyrical theme between the songs. It may not bring all of them together, but it is coming from a distressing place, mentally. I just don’t want to destroy it before it’s begun.
With an air of mystery and their own personal mantra of living each day like it’s their last, you’re guaranteed to have a great time at a Royal Blood concert. They’ve risen to the top of our playlists and hearts since forming in the UK in 2011, encompassing a blend of hard, garage, psychadelic, and stoner rock that’s basically a millennial dream. They’re entering a new chapter of their careers with their upcoming record and heading tour, and hope you’ll be there! Get Royal Blood tickets today.
