Rainbow Kitten Surprise is touring throughout the remainder of 2022, and you can’t miss seeing the indie rock darlings in action. They’ll kick off performances on July 1st in Charleston, SC, and visit nearly every major US city before the final show on December 13th in Kansas City, MO.
“We’ve been having so much fun the past few weeks that we decided to play some more shows!” the group wrote on the Rainbow Kitten Surprise Instagram. “We’ve added US dates with support from our lovely new friends twen! Stoked to alchemize trauma into light with all of you beautiful humans!” Have the last couple of years been a bit traumatic? Yes. But you’ll be pushing back all your post-pandemic woes, and dancing like nobody is watching on this Rainbow Kitten Surprise tour.
Even the band name tells you that Rainbow Kitten Surprise knows how to party. Their sound is influenced by indie icons like Modest Mouse and Kings of Leon while still putting a more colorful spin on their tracks. Which Rainbow Kitten Surprise songs are you most excited to dance along to first… “Hide,” “Holy War,” “Fever Pitch,” and “Devil Like Me?”
The acoustics will be amplified and the lights even more vibrant at all your favorite outdoor venues in summer 2022. This includes the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, CO, where Rainbow Kitten Surprise will return after selling out the venue in days, back in 2019. Since then, a lot has changed, but these Rainbow Kitten Surprise concerts will be just as stimulating as you remember.
The North Carolina-based band has released three albums since their 2013 formation, the last being 2018’s How To; Friend, Love, Freefall. We have questions about when the next Rainbow Kitten Surprise album is being released. However, they gave us a hint with their latest single, “Work Out.” Melodic Mag calls the beautifully bittersweet tune a “bubbling, effervescent slice of indie rock that hones in on the difficulty of relationships,” which may be setting the tone for future tracks.
