Pearl Jam 2022 Tour Announcement – Gigaton Tour Schedule
Pearl Jam is all set for their rescheduled 2022 tour, which visits the US in May and September. The beloved 90s grunge band will kick off their trek on May 3rd in San Diego, CA, and continue through the 20th in Las Vegas, NV. After a summer break, they’ll return to North America in the fall and visit several major cities before wrapping up on September 22nd in Denver, CO.
This Pearl Jam tour is long overdue, taking place over two years after the original trek was postponed in March 2020. Even if you saw frontman Eddie Vedder on his own tour last month, which celebrated his latest solo effort, Earthling, you must be in the mood for some 90s alt rock-grunge hits. “Even Flow,” “Alive,” and “Do the Evolution,” anyone? These legendary songs will be played on the 2022 Pearl Jam tour, along with new tracks from their 2020 release Gigaton.
Their eleventh album was released the same month that they postponed the Pearl Jam tour, at the surge of the pandemic. It’s been a very difficult two years, and we may or may not have listened to the tracks on Gigaton a few times while pretending we were at a Pearl Jam concert. Songs like “Dance of the Clairvoyants,” “Superblood Wolfmoon,” and “Retrograde” are just as awesome and ethereal as they sound, mixing their trademark grunge with hints of experimental and punk rock.
Listen, we understand the nostalgia and need for classic 90s grunge on this Pearl Jam tour. After all, you don’t want to mess too much with a group that was once dubbed “the most popular American rock & roll band of the ’90s.” But the grunge sound is very much alive on Gigaton, it just has a few experimental twists. Whether you listened to Pearl Jam in the 1990s alongside other Seattle-based rock bands like Nirvana and Sound Garden, or you’ve only discovered them in recent years through their surprisingly-active TikTok page… you’re going to love the new album.
