New Found Glory 2024 Tour Announcement – Catalyst 20th Anniversary Tour Schedule
New Found Glory is celebrating two decades of their fourth album, Catalyst! Joined by Sincere Engineer, the pop-punk band will begin on August 16th in Orlando, FL, and end on October 23rd in Denver, CO.
“Fans trust us because of albums like Catalyst,” says New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert. “We can make these records and branch out creatively, and they know we’re never going to do something really weird. We are who we are, and I love that we can play whatever and still crush it.” He’s not wrong! Over the past 25 years, New Found Glory has perfected the recipe for the perfect pop-punk band. It includes non-stop energy, a dash of nostalgia, and never-ending appreciation for the fans that made them.
Of course, they were already in the good graces of rock fans everywhere prior to the 2004 release of Catalyst. Who can forget their first three records, which produced lasting setlist staples like “Hit Or Miss,” “My Friends Over You,” and “Head On Collision?” However, it was their aforementioned fourth album that pushed them even further outside the realms of skate parks and arcades. And plunged them face-first into mainstream music territory.
Unlike its predecessors, Catalyst took a slightly heavier and darker turn musically. From macabre album art to grim song titles like “All Downhill From Here,” “Truth of My Youth,” and “Failure’s Not Flattering,” they ignored what was expected and took their music into their own hands. And needless to say, this darker material was a great look on New Found Glory. Alternative Press called Catalyst a “nostalgic snapshot of a mid-career transition” while showing that “pop-punk could reach a broader radio and MTV audience without compromising its credibility.”
“We were coming off ‘My Friends Over You‘ and had the pressure of fans going, ‘Oh, what’s this band going to turn into?” Gilbert recalls. “We decided to keep being ourselves. Rock bands were going a little more pop at that time, but we wanted to carve out a lane for ourselves and say, ‘Look, we’re part of this genre and love it, but we’re also one of a kind and different.'” This one-of-a-kind musicality has continued for two decades, all the way up through the twelfth and latest New Found Glory album, 2023’s Make The Most Of It.
Are you prepared to hear Catalyst in its entirety, along with between-song speeches about the impact it had on New Found Glory’s career? Because this trek is going to be one for the pop-punk books. Get your New Found Glory tickets today!
