Neil Young 2023 Tour Announcement – Coastal Tour Schedule
Neil Young is touring for the first time in four years… are you ready to see one of the most prolific singer-songwriters in American history? Young will begin his Coastal acoustic trek on July 1st with four nights in Los Angeles, CA. He’ll make stops in Santa Barbara, CA, Bend, OR, Auburn, WA, and more before concluding on the 23rd in Napa, CA.
These West Coast dates are a majorly big deal for Neil Young fans. Not only will it be the first time he’s performed since 2019, due to both the pandemic and his grievances with the concert industry. But he’ll also be playing more intimate venues with a setlist comprised of songs he’s never sung live before. Yes, you heard that correctly. Even after an iconic six decades of Neil Young concerts, he still has quite a few deep cuts that he’s kept hidden in the vault. And you can be a part of history by hearing him play these folk-rock classics for the very first time.
“I don’t want to come back and do the same songs again,” says Young. “I’ll feel like I was on some sort of carnival ride. I’d rather be doing these other songs I haven’t done…I won’t have to compare how I’m doing ‘Heart of Gold’ to how I played it in 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010, 2020…” Don’t get us wrong, he’ll still play the essentials like “For What It’s Worth,” “Harvest Moon,” and “Prison Song.” However, according to Rolling Stone, roughly 80% of the setlist will be underrated tracks known to hardcore fans.
“They’re not new songs,” he says. “They’re old songs. But I wake up with them in my head every morning. They are songs that apply to my life right now, and apply to everyone’s lives in this era that we’re in. Some of them were written 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago, but never really played live.” Longtime Young fans are likely already playing a guessing game at which songs he’s referring to. And we don’t blame them!
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only see an American (or shall we say Canadian!) icon in the flesh, but also to hear a new setlist that may never come again. How can we possibly put Neil Young’s musical legacy into words? Often hailed as one of the greatest artists of all time, the 77-year-old is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy Hall of Fame, inductee. He’s sold over 75 million albums, inspired everybody from Tom Petty and Nirvana to Fleet Foxes, and as of 2021, is the seventh most-acclaimed musical artist of all time.
And that’s not even mentioning his philanthropic efforts, which include his role as an original founder of the Farm Aid concert benefit series! Neil Young is an incredible person, mentor, and musician to millions of people worldwide, and you can’t miss your chance to see him perform. Get your tickets to the Coastal tour today!
