Mod Sun 2023 Tour Announcement – God Save the Teen Tour Schedule
Mod Sun is heading on his most prominent tour yet in early 2023! The blue-haired rap-rocker will kick off on February 19th in Sacramento, CA, making stops in Seattle, WA, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, and more before finishing up on April 2st in Los Angeles, CA.
“My biggest headline tour yet is officially on sale, and I’m gonna need all my friends to get tickets right now,” Mod Sun, born Derek Smith, wrote on Instagram. “My new album, God Save The Teen, will be out, and I will be playing brand new songs and all the classics…yes, even some really old ones.” “I’ve been waiting to graduate to the next level of venue sizes since I was literally 18 years old, and it finally happened,” he continued, “So please spread the word and help make sure these shows are packed full. Can’t wait to see which city sells out first!” Indeed, Mod Sun has been making music for two decades but only now is getting the vast crowds and mainstream attention he deserves, so don’t miss your chance to see him on the big stage!
Like another major music star in 2022 (cough, Machine Gun Kelly, cough), Mod Sun has bounced back and forth between hip-hop and pop punk. He released his primarily rap debut album, Look Up, back in 2015, going the same route with 2017’s Movie and BB before switching to pop punk with 2021’s Internet Killed the Rockstar. Maybe the heavier sound in the 2020s was the influence of his pop-rock superstar fiance, Avril Lavigne, or a celebration of the emo revival? Whatever it was, we can’t wait to hear how he blends hip-hop and punk rock on his brand new fifth record; God Save the Teen.
While Mod Sun has remained quiet about the tracklist for the early 2023 release, he’s hyped up the record by calling it “the best music he’s ever made.” He also released a 90-second snippet of the first single, “Wolves,” a pop-punk ballad that we can’t wait to hear in its entirety. It’s only been a year and a half since his last record, Internet Killed the Rockstar, but this new album will mark an exciting era for Mod Sun… and we can’t wait to witness it up close.
