Marc Broussard is bringing the blues back to you with the “Carencro 20th Anniversary Tour!” The “Bayou Soul” legend is celebrating his major label debut beginning on November 3rd in Seattle, WA. Stopping in cities like Portland, OR, Memphis, TN, and Richmond, VA, he’ll wrap up on March 24th in Minneapolis, MN.
But first, what do you need to know about Carencro? That it’s a love letter to Marc Broussard’s hometown. Named for the Louisiana town where he grew up, singles like “Home” are a heartfelt tribute to the people he loves. The record was released the same year that Hurricane Katrina caused devastating damage in the South. Therefore, Broussard was (and still is) dedicated to providing support through the power of song. And even two decades later, people wipe away tears over these powerful lyrics and personalized hooks.
From “Rocksteady” and “Save Me” to “Gavin’s Song” (written for Broussard’s son) and “Let Me Leave,” these tracks will transport you right back to 2004. Every last one is an unblemished blend of blues, funk, R&B, and pop, and Broussard can’t wait to play Carencro from front to back! Sure, it’s a bittersweet experience for the singer-songwriter. And even with Hurricane Katrina far behind us, he’s continued to write tracks made for the people. Many of his most famous songs, including “Cry to Me,” “Lonely Night in Georgia,” and “Edge of Heaven,” are a tribute to his loved ones!
