Manuel Turizo is taking his “2000 Tour” on the road! The Reggaeton hotshot will begin on October 6th in Miami, FL, making fourteen stops before concluding on November 3rd in Chicago, IL.
Turizo has just dropped his third record, 2000, named for the year he was born…but also a tribute to his favorite music from the past two decades. While most commonly known as a Reggaeton artist, the 23-year-old has no issues experimenting with all sorts of new sounds. And it’s evident on modern singles like “La Bachata,” “Triste,” and “VAGABUNDO.”
“I’m never going to stick to one box, and I kept that in mind when making this album,” Turizo told Rolling Stone. “This is an urban album, yes, but it taps into different styles.” These include house, Latin pop, and even one emotional ballad! The past few years have given him more confidence and a larger spotlight as his greatest hits, namely “La Bachata,” climbed the charts. And Manuel Turizo made sure to show off every side of himself on 2000.
While his previous efforts, 2019’s ADN and 2021’s Dopamina, were heavy on collaborations with fellow stars like El Alfa, Maluma, and Myke Towers, 2000 is more about the Gen Z megastar himself. He sings about his rise to fame, Columbian roots, the pressures of the music industry and everything in between! But even the heavier subject matter somehow makes you want to dance, courtesy of powerful messages that most of us can relate to.
“These are real songs with messages,” Turizo said further about 2000. “There are so many songs out there with cool rhythms but they don’t have a message. I want my songs to always have something to say.” He’s accomplished this and so much more with his latest record, which is a new beginning for Manuel Turizo.
