Lauryn Hill 2023 Tour Announcement – The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour Schedule
Ms. Lauryn Hill is headlining the mother of all anniversary tours in 2023! Joined by the Fugees, the legendary rapper will celebrate 25 years of her debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. She’ll kick off on September 8th in Minneapolis, MN, continuing for two months before wrapping on November 9th in Seattle, WA.
First things first, we understand that there’s a lot to unpack around this Lauryn Hill tour. How do you do justice to one of the best-selling albums of all time that established Hill as the female rapper of her generation? And how fitting is it that she’s bringing along her former group, The Fugees, who will reunite for their first trek in years? These performances are a tribute to Ms. Lauryn Hill’s unparalleled experiences in the music world, a genius of her time who deserves every last bit of recognition.
With its groundbreaking fusion of R&B, pop, and hip-hop, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was far ahead of its time when it came out in 1998. Singles like “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Ex-Factor,” and “Everything Is Everything” were all any music fan could talk about! The hype has far from died down, as the record is now considered one of the best of the 1990s, if not in the history of music. Lauryn has yet to release any other albums over the years (although continuing to tour) for a reason…her debut simply can’t be topped.
It helped Hill become the first woman to win five Grammys in one night and was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress. And then there’s the numerous “Best Albums of All Time” lists that The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill has appeared on, from the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and more! The bottom line? This record was a seriously big deal back then and has been for a quarter century. And Ms. Lauryn Hill intends to give this project the love it deserves on tour.
“‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator,” Hill said in a statement. “I wrote love songs and protest songs— (still love songs) about the subjects and interests that inspired and moved me. I was confident that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that kind could only live in the past.”
“I loved music, I loved people, I truly felt grateful to God for my life, and genuinely blessed to have a platform where I could share wisdom and perspective through music,” she continues. “I felt a charge to challenge the idea that certain kinds of expression and/or certain kinds of people didn’t belong in certain places. I loved showing what could work or happen provided there was imagination, creativity and LOVE leading the way.”
It’s time to step back into the 90s with one of the most divine stars of the decade…Ms. Lauryn Hill! Prepare to celebrate 25 years of this iconic album and get your tickets now for the following dates.
