Jhené Aiko 2024 Tour Announcement – The Magic Hour Tour Schedule
Jhené Aiko is finally taking fans on “The Magic Hour tour!” The R&B and neo-soul singer will be joined by several high-profile friends, including Coi Leray, Tink, Umi and Kiana Ledé, beginning on June 19th in Detroit, MI. She’ll make more than 25 stops before wrapping up on August 22nd in Columbus, OH.
This Jhené Aiko has been four years in the making, initially set to take off in 2020 in support of her third album, Chilombo. However, it was sadly cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And while she’s laid low throughout the 2020s, opting for music festival appearances instead of full-length tours, fans knew that Aiko was cooking up something, well, magical. Luckily, she’s finally come through in 2024 with the announcement of these new-and-improved concert dates.
And to say that Chilombo makes things worth the wait is quite the understatement, as it’s the album of a lifetime. Upon its 2020 release, the record debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and gained incredible reviews from critics, most of whom fell in love with singles like “Triggered (Freestyle),” “None of Your Concern,” and “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E).” This includes Variety, who referred to Chilombo as a “soul-comforting, stripped-down manifesto of [Aiko’s] personal growth.”
Aiko herself echoed this sentiment in a 2020 interview with Billboard. “’Chilombo’ is a word that means ‘wild beast’ — they’re strong, confident and graceful,” she says. “Beasts are also beautiful.” “In a sense, I am like a volcano, and this album is an eruption. It starts with ‘Triggered,’ and there’s a lava flow with all these songs where it’s a free-flowing jam session. And then it settled — and it became this beautiful land where there’s new life.”
She also introduced sound bowls into her music to create a calming and tranquil effect, which expertly complemented her signature R&B and soul to create a genre all her own. Is it any surprise that Chilombo was an album of the year contender? Now that she’s embarking on a proper Jhené Aiko tour after all these years, the 36-year-old songstress intends to give her beloved album the recognize it deserves. Sound bowls and all.
