Idina Menzel is belting her way through her entire Broadway and pop catalog on her latest tour! The iconic singer will kick off the “Take Me Or Leave Me tour” on July 19th in Seattle, WA. Making 20+ stops including Los Angeles, CA, Orlando, FL, and Toronto, ON, she’ll continue through August 18th in Greensboro, NC.
“Super personal, intimate, lots of laughs, lots of stories, lots of great new music, old music,” the 52-year-old said on Instagram about her new show. This Idina Menzel tour takes its name from the famous duet she performs alongside Tracie Thoms in Rent, where she originated the role of Maureen over two decades ago. And believe it or not, this is just one of the beloved musical theater characters that have emerged from her unmatched stage presence and instantly-recognizable mezzo-soprano.
Menzel also made her mark as the first-ever Elphaba in Wicked — now the fourth-longest-running show on Broadway with a movie adaptation set for later this year. And of course, we can’t forget Menzel’s tear-jerking take on “Let It Go” from Frozen, where she voiced the snow queen, Elsa, herself. The “Queen of Broadway” and certified Disney legend has also dabbled in pop, releasing seven solo albums including 2023’s Drama Queen.
While that project name may seem derogatory, Menzel has more than earned the title of “drama queen.” She’s a Tony, Emmy, and Billboard Music award winner, among many others, and is often hailed as one of the most talented stage performers of her generation.
